| roger psy...I believe the issue is with ram allocated to web browsing on some phones...this page with all its flash uses up quite a bit of ram for a phone...nothing for a pc. I have the desire and it doesn't have issues...but its about equivalent to a laptop also. I want to make one with just images and no flash...or minimum images...(can't remove them because the site is formatted with images like many others). I do think I can add something that identifies a mobile device and loads a different page with less stuff on it. That is the rout I will likely take. The question is what all should be included on a stripped down site for mobile browsing...also...where do i find this code for the site to know what you are using lol. I figure I can do all this but my to-do list just gets bigger and bigger. Fortunately, in the next few days or a week, I should start to wind down my working hours somewhat to the point that i can address some of these issues. |

Try this and let me know the results.
go to main page and let it all load(It is really bad till it all loads and it takes a while to load because it pulls info from so many sites)...once loaded let me know how it performs.
Now go to the forum..let it load and tell me how that performs..
I think you said it was ok on the forum but not the main page.
Oddly enough..the main page uses 7mb of ram but has 180 queries...but the forums use 11mb of ram but have 90 queries...I was wondering if it is the queries that cause the issues instead of the member that I had originally suspected. |

It's not a big deal with me.
I have unlimited DATA with AT&T so I don't mind waiting. |

played around some more, honestly this site moves around as good as any other i use on my phone. the home page does load a bit longer, that shout box takes some time to catch up, but really all the pages function about the same after the load, and for me the site can be navigated just fine, its just not instant like on a desktop or laptop. scrolling is what pisses me off, sometimes the phone will semi lock up when i try to scroll. i think the cpu in this phone is just super slow...it does run all day long on a very small battery...cant be too fast.
really i think its just the limits of the hardware in our phones, i sorta feel like its a waste of your time to make a change to the site to suite a phone that will be out of date soon, especially since the hardware that replaces it will most likely take care of the problem forever...sorry guys, might be time to upgrade :)
also, the more programs each person has installed(and especially those that are running constantly) on their phones the less resources for the browser, i am curious how much bs and applications the people having major performance issues have on their phones? |

| Bald, I'm usually in a 3G area, but Seattle is one of Verizon's "high-speed tests" or whatever, so when I go anywhere basically I jump onto a faster network. |

please test our beta mobile site
mobile.jrks.org (In Beta)
I've set up a sub domain to test some stuff...please visit the above site and report back the results comparing its performance on your mobile device to the performance of the default www.jrks.org site on your mobile device.
on the mobile site I have taken off the flash header and disabled all blocks that call information from other sites....bfbcs.com...gametracker.com etc. Â
The blocks will currently give errors such as :
There is a problem right now on the Homepage. Please check back later.
There is a problem right now with this block.
The issue on this method, if effective, will be, what blocks are loaded on the mobile site and what blocks would only load on the main site? Â We can test different configurations to isolate any major problems.
Thanks in advance for taking the time to give feedback on this issue. Â I understand its not a big deal to have this feature but I want to have the ability to do it....also I've started a topic on this issue over at the evo xtreme site where the people who designed and modified the site back-end have began development along the same lines.
http://www.evolution-xtreme.com/modules.php?name=Forums&file=viewtopic&p=27774#27774
Ultimately, I would like to have it where when you visit www.jrks.org it determines what type of device you are on and if on pc takes you straight to main site or if on mobile gives you the option. |

Feebs, thanks for taking the time to put this together.
I tested it out and it's SUPER fast. The stutter/jitter and latency issues appear to be gone for me, and the only slowness comes from my side (Running Swype and it lags a little on text entry).
Just a comment or two about it: It's harder to navigate without the banner on the top. I for one use it to jump to the forums/memberlist/etc. so not having it there at all made navigating a little strange. I'll keep playing around with it to see if any other errors pop up! |

banner should be there....?
I did notice the forum not formatted like the main site...but banner should be there just missing some blocks below the banner.
check again and make sure you can't see the banner.... |

i see the banner, and it does seem to be a fair amount smoother to move around on the pages. home page is way better.
pretty sweet you can do all that in such a short period of time, i thought you were going to have to spend hours on this. |

before it is all done i will. I might go back and add some of the blocks back and see what its like...it could be a specific block or two creating significant lag. |

| totally eliminating flash for phones that can't support it is more than we can do at this point. I have to assume that all phones will be able to view flash in the near future considering it's virtual universal use on websites across the web these days...I assume the biggest issue on this mobile.jrks.org when flash is disabled is that you can't see the headers for each block (Take quite a bit of coding to fix those..have to create a new image block for each block while flash allows them all to be auto generated). |

| I have enabled the server blocks to the right. Please re-test and see if that made a significant difference in performance of mobile.jrks.org |
